Why Just Being “Nice” in Business Isn’t a Good Idea

Growing up, I was taught to be a “nice” girl.

And nice girls (and boys) are always friendly.

Always polite.

They don’t do anything that could hurt someone else’s feelings. EVER.

This doesn’t work if you want to build a successful business.

Let me be clear…

I’m not encouraging you to be a jerk.

What I AM saying is this…

Being honest is much more important — and more helpful — than being nice.

For instance, if you need to give a team member or client constructive criticism you KNOW will help them but you hold back because you think their feelings will get hurt…

You’re not doing ANYONE any favors.

Being honest — with kindness —  helps others become the best they can be.

And being honest with yourself helps you get real around what you’re doing well and what needs to change.

So, where can you STOP settling for nice and start getting honest in your life or business? Leave a comment!

Marisa helps entrepreneurs create a business that is authentic and aligned with who they are, to empower them to turn up the dial on their “inner superhero”, so they can be the superhero to their tribe, as well as in their own lives.
