Did you know some people call me the Queen of Disruption? I earned the title because I’m ALL about the power of disruptive ideas 🙂
No matter what kind of business you’re in — coaching, coding, copywriting — you’re in the “idea business.”
ALL businesses today — at least the ones that succeed — run on ideas.
But it isn’t enough to just keep coming up with ideas. You need to ask yourself, “Are my ideas any good?”
Here’s the thing…
Ideas are a dime a dozen.
There are 1 dollar ideas. There are a thousand dollar ideas. There are million dollar ideas… and yes even billion dollar ideas.
And if you want to have an impact…
If you want to make a real difference…
If you want to change the world…
Then you have to move forward with a BIG idea.
Because taking action on a million dollar idea is going to do WAY more for you and your business than taking action on a one dollar idea.
Unfortunately, most people just scratch the surface of what they can actually do and where they can go with their ideas.
They start out with a bang and then everything ends in a disappointing fizzle.
No one pays any attention because their idea isn’t big enough, exciting enough, or different enough.
In rapidly changing or uncertain times, you have to be willing to take action on big, bold, breakthrough ideas.
To be relevant now and in the future you’ve got to be willing to let go — to disrupt — what’s working now. You’ve got to disrupt what’s just okay so you can find what’s going to work even better in the future.
William Faulkner famously said,
“In writing, you must kill all your darlings”
and I believe that in business you’ve got to “kill your darling ideas” too.
Because when you let go of “darling ideas” that are ordinary…
Ideas that are just okay…
You’ll open yourself up to out-of-the-ordinary ideas that will take you, your clients, your business, and maybe even the whole world to a whole other level.
You could discover ways of working, living and being that’s beyond anything anyone can even imagine right now.
Look at it this way…
If you want to win the battle to get your customers’ attention with your ideas, think like Captain Kirk, or Commander Spock…
Boldly go where no idea has gone before…
(Close your eyes and hear the Star Trek theme song)
You need disruptive ideas.
Are you willing to disrupt what’s working, what’s just okay, to find those extraordinary ideas?
So the boldest, most disruptive, idea that you’ve ever had — what is it? I want you to take at least one action step around it today because when you do — oh, my GOSH — you will get attention like it’s nobody’s business!
What’s that big, bold, disruptive idea you’re going to take action on? Let me know in the comments…
